About Olto Discovery

Turn a question into a protocol — and make reproducibility legible.

Good science is hard to write down and harder to trust at a glance. Olto Discovery exists to close that gap: take an experimental question and turn it into a structured, reviewable protocol, then keep the methods legible enough that someone else can actually reproduce them. AI drafts; scientists decide. We would rather ship a smaller, honest claim than a bigger one we cannot stand behind.

The company

A founder-led company, building one product.

Velora Biotech LLC is the legal entity; Olto Discovery is the product it builds and operates. We are a founder-led company based in the United States, focused narrowly on the design, review, and reproducibility of experimental protocols rather than a sprawling suite.

The company
Velora Biotech LLC

A founder-led company in the United States. We keep the team, the roadmap, and the claims small enough to stay honest — and we say “founder-led” rather than invent a headcount, a funding round, or an advisory board we do not have.

The product
Olto Discovery

An AI-assisted platform for designing, reviewing, running, and reproducing experimental protocols. Describe a research goal, get a 12-section draft to review and refine, run it as a guided test session, and keep an auditable trail — with your heaviest data able to stay on your machine.

Why we build it

Reproducibility should be the default, not the exception.

Most experiments live in a lab notebook, a slide deck, and a few people's memory. When a result needs to be checked, extended, or trusted by someone new, the method has to be reconstructed — and the details that decide whether it reproduces are the ones most likely to be missing.

Our goal is narrow and concrete: take an experimental question and turn it into a structured, reviewable protocol — the same sections every time, the steps explicit, the variables and controls named — so a method is legible enough to reproduce, and a change to it is visible. That is the whole idea, and everything else on the platform serves it.

How we use AI

AI drafts. Humans review. That order never flips.

Olto uses large language models from Anthropic (Claude) to draft, refine, and score protocols and to power the assistant. The model proposes; a scientist reviews, edits, and decides. AI output is a starting point — never an authoritative or validated design.

What is sent to the AI provider
  • The prompts and instructions you write
  • Protocol text the assistant drafts, refines, or scores at your request
  • Files you explicitly choose to analyze with an AI action
What stays on your machine
  • Statistics you run in the Statistics Workbench (client-side)
  • Notebook Python cells and their figures (executed in your tab)
  • Raw datasets and image math that compute where they sit — unless you save or upload them

Be precise about what this is not: when you use an AI feature, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic to run the inference, so Olto is not end-to-end encrypted for that content. Anthropic is a contracted subprocessor. For the full boundary — what crosses the wire and what does not — see the Security page and the Privacy Policy.

Our claims posture

Every claim traces back to one source of truth.

Marketing pages are where products quietly overstate. We treat that as a bug. Numeric and status claims are imported from a single internal facts module — so the homepage, the docs, and the legal pages can never drift out of agreement with each other or with the code.

Evidence over adjectives

Advertised counts are pinned to the code that produces them and rounded down so they stay true as the codebase grows. If a real artifact — an audit, a certificate, a signed agreement — does not exist yet, we label it honestly rather than imply it exists.

One shared vocabulary

Every capability carries exactly one status — no ad-hoc “coming soon” or “early access.” A planned feature is never described as shipped, and a contract-only capability is never implied to be self-serve.

StatusWhat it means
Generally availableLive and self-serve for everyone on the plan.
BetaUsable today; still hardening. Labelled as such.
PreviewDemonstrable, not production-guaranteed.
PlannedOn the roadmap, not built yet — never sold as shipped.
Available by contractAvailable only under a negotiated agreement (e.g. a HIPAA BAA).

Where we align with security and compliance frameworks — and where we do not yet — is stated in the same plain way on the Security and Compliance & Trust pages, including that Olto has not completed an independent SOC 2 audit and does not offer a public API.

Research & safety philosophy

The principles the product is built around.

These are not aspirations bolted on after the fact — they decide what we ship, and what we refuse to imply.

AI drafts, humans decide
Every AI output is a starting point a scientist reviews, edits, and signs off on. We never present a generated protocol as an authoritative, validated, or clinically endorsed design — the judgment stays with the researcher.
Reproducibility is the product
A method is only useful if someone else can run it. We structure every protocol into the same 12 reviewable sections so procedures are legible, comparable, and auditable — not a wall of prose that hides the steps that matter.
Say what we do not do
We publish what we enforce right next to what we do not claim. Olto is not a clinical, GLP, or regulatory system of record, and it has not completed an independent SOC 2 audit. Overstating erodes the trust the platform is supposed to earn.
Collect less
Your heaviest data — statistics, notebook Python, image math — can run in your browser and never reach our servers. We ask for the minimum needed to operate the service, and analytics stay off until you opt in.
Who it's for

Built for the people who actually do the work.

Independent researchers, students, and small teams who need the structure of a serious platform without the enterprise price — or the enterprise sales call.

01

Principal investigators

Standardize how your lab designs protocols, onboard new students in days, and see every experiment your group has running — with a rigor score on each.

02

Postdocs & PhD students

Get a defensible first draft of any protocol, run your stats without leaving the page, and publish work to the library with your name on it.

03

Biotech founders

Run R&D from one tool. Skip the enterprise contract and the six-figure software bill, and keep an audit trail from day one.

04

Independent researchers

The structure of a real platform at a price you can justify. Fork community protocols to start from something proven, not a blank page.
